What is the difference between design for print and digital?
Simply put, Print Design and Digital Design is different as it requires different specifications in the designing process, which will greatly affects the quality of the final design. These specifications are;
- Resolution (dpi) - dots per inch is the measurement used for how clear the design is for print, the higher the dpi, the higher the resolution
- Size - different platforms use different sizes when it comes to creating digital work
- Colour - There are two major colour systems, RGB for digital use and CMYK for printing use
If you print a design intended for digital use, the colours may result washed out and you may not get the result you see on the screen and vice versa.
While printing require higher dpi, the same amount of dpi for digital use have no visual effect but will cause your screen to lag due to the heavy file size.
